Engate has developed a comprehensive email security Connection Management framework known as ConnectionManager™, which provides real-time, preemptive threat protection through the tight coupling of network profiling rules and SMTP protocol analysis. Available in Engate MailSentinel™ products, ConnectionManager™ delivers the highest accuracy available for blocking malicious threats, and creates radical reductions in the volume of delivered emails by ’interdicting‘ these transmissions prior to their receipt at the destination mail systems.
ConnectionManager operates as a transparent intercepting proxy for inbound SMTP. ConnectionManager unnoticeably monitors communication sessions between a receiving MTA and all sending MTA's. When fraudulent SMTP behavior is detected or messages from unreputable sources are detected, Engate takes action to disrupt, manipulate or direct the SMTP session. Legitimate email is transparently directed to the protected MTA and offending email is interdicted at the connection level before unwanted messages are delivered to the email gateway.
While Engate uniquely functions at +99% accuracy without capturing, storing or reading email content, ConnectionManager adds incremental value to reputation systems, content filters, and application layer security products by radically reducing the large volume of unwanted traffic prior to their receipt at the destination mail systems. Once email is determined to be legitimate, Engate directs objectionable content to filters for further analysis. The result is drastically smaller volumes of email that require filtering inside the email gateway, as well as a reduced load on the email infrastructure -- setting a new benchmark for customer satisfaction.
